I found this link on an old reddit post I found through searching. It's not obvious where to go to download the client. My computer crashed a couple of weeks ago and I had to figure this out. Don't know if this was weirdness only for my setup or not but. The shortcut wouldn't actually start the game but opening the actual exe file from the game location did (right click, open file location, open the file from that location). You may also need to adjust system setting back to where they were but all your character info will be preserved.Д®dit: The installer prompted my to save a shortcut, which I did. Once the game is downloaded and runs to character choice, quit the game and then copy the saved character files back. It will start all the downloads - 73GB or so. Change na to eu if in Europe.Дownload and run the client. Then, go to to download the game client for NA. Also copy the FFXIV_CHARA_xx.dat files and the MACROSYS.dat file (which holds shared macros if that is something you use with alt characters). files (they contain character UI setting - can also use a backup if you've done this in the game itself). They can be found in user/Documents/MyGames/Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn. If you have uninstalled the game, your data files should still be there I think. Check administrative rights of Windows login user. Make sure the login user name only contains one-byte alphabet characters and numbers.
