The combination of the different materials ensures a high - although not perfect - stability. The palm rest and display cover continue to be made from magnesium and carbon fiber respectively.

The materials below the surface also reveal a change: the case bottom is now made from aluminum instead of magnesium. This works fairly well, and the surface layer is slightly more matte and grippy than that of the ThinkPad T14s Gen 1. As always, colorful accents are formed by the red TrackPoint, silver hinges, and the ThinkPad logo.Д¬ompared to the predecessor, the haptics have slightly changed, since Lenovo has changed the black surface covering, which is supposed to show less fingerprints and smudges. In addition, Lenovo has adjusted the shape of the palm rests below the keyboard in order to integrate the new, flat TrackPoint buttons.
